English accents in non western media

Agreed that I haven't written anything about a Korean drama in a while, but that does not mean I wasn't watching any. Yes, I am watching fewer dramas then before, but I am definitely still watching Korean dramas. And the one I am watching right now is a 2004 drama Love Story in Harvard.
  I found the Harvard University part very interesting, but my main problem with the drama, that others have noted too, is the really pathetic English accent of the Korean cast. Especially Kim Rae Won's English is barely audible. I had to resort to the subs even for English and my English MASHALLAH is really good.
  I always believe that in movies and dramas the accents should be good, if one is portraying a character that has lived in England all of his or her life then the character should have a British accent. And this is problem I have with every movie that is even in Indian movies, like Dil Wale Dulhaniya Lejayenge, the two main leads were supposedly brought up in England and yet the actors had a very Indian English accent, making it hard for one to believe that they had lived in UK all of their lives.
  With Korean dramas I have had the same problem, like in Goong, the character of Prince Lee Yul has supposedly lived all his life in England yet his English was completely not understandable. Similarly in Love Story in Harvard, the lead character has gotten admission in one of the world's most prestigious University and he is studying Law, yet his English makes no sense at all. His tenses are wrong and most of his conversation in English is totally another language yet to be introduced to the rest of the world, till then we resort to reading the subtitles in English for his supposed English dialogues.
  Well even this can be forgiven for he is playing an immigrant student, so lets cut him some slack. But what about the character of Alex Hong, played by actor Lee Jeong Jin. Admittedly his English accent is much better then Kim Rae Won's yet in no way is it even near an international university graduate's level and far from some one's who has lived in America for the last 15 or more years of his life. Kim Tae Hee, who plays Lee Soo In, her accent is probably much better then her male counterparts, yet even she cannot be anywhere near someone who has lived in America since they were 9.
  The team of this drama should have paid more attention to the accents, so that their characters could have more credibility. The only time in any movie, that I have heard some actor work on their accent is Khuda Ke Liye (2007 Pakistan), where Iman Ali worked on her English accent so as to appear a British born. Even though her accent was not perfect, she should be given props for her attempt. If you guys have heard of any other actor working on their accent in any country, for any medium, share it with me.
