A Lonely Road

"I walk a lonely road, the only one I have ever known. Don't know where it goes but its only me and I walk alone. I walk this empty street on the boulevard of broken dream, when the city sleeps and I'm the only one and I walk alone."
It might sound a little too pessimistic, but the truth is that it is a fact of life that can never be denied. To me, these lyrics be Green Day can mean many things, but the meaning I am taking right now is that we, the humans, come into this world alone. Yes, most of us have families to welcome us in the world, but even then we are alone. As a child learning to walk, no one else can learn for him/her, s/he has to learn on his own, by falling several times, going through the pain alone. And then for the rest of our time in this world, our pain and hurt cannot be felt by someone else, it is ours to feel and experience and we have to live with it. We can never know the future, we just walk alone without knowing our destiny. We can anticipate the future and dream of something in that future, but no promise can be made that those dreams will come true or that we will have the future we expect and want. This life is the biggest mystery known to mankind and it is a journey one cannot make without dreaming and yet there is no guarantee that those dreams will come true, too often people face the pieces of their broken dreams but we have to continue this journey without looking back, and we have to take life as it comes.
The journey is a lonely one for we start it alone and reach the final destination alone. It is not a very dark idea but a strange fact we like to avoid but cannot ignore.
