As the defending Champions Fc Barcelona lost last night, on their home ground, and were eliminated from the Champions League in the Semi Final against Chelsea Fc, over million hearts broke. Mine was one of those hearts, but to me that heart break was maybe a redemption for the 2009 Champions league semi final against Chelsea, where Chelsea was definitely not given a fair chance.
But then again in the game of football there is no payback, is there? Barcelona won that time around, and that is great for me, was it completely fair? No person who heard Pique admit to the handball later, can say it was fair. And no one, with a heart, can forget the anger and disappointment Didier Drogba had on his face, or the uncontrollable tears of John Terry, and for those tears and the fact that four years later those tears had changed into these big smiles, I decided I will not mourn the loss of my team.
Many fans will accuse me of not being sincere but I am, I wanted Barcelona to win but I cannot pretend that I do not love Drogba and Petr Cech, and considering they were about to retire without a shot at the Champions League Cup, partly due to the blind referee and a lot of luck for Barcelona in 2009, I believe it is time for Chelsea to prove what for so long has been ignored; Chelsea has some amazing players, who are A-listers but have never been given the recognition they deserve.
Plus I'm pissed at Pique for commenting on Drogba's inability to get up after falling down, and giving this huge lecture about football being an honest game, it just makes me wonder how can he have the right to say anything, then what can we say about his inability to keep his hands to himself and then slyly telling the world you gotta do whatever it takes to win the game. Well my friend, Drogba stayed on the ground and won the game.
I know from all this, it probably sounds like I'm more of a fan of Chelsea, but that is not true, the heartbreak is a separate issue, but I cannot ignore the fact the there are amazing players not given the recognition they deserve and then there are players who commit a foul, forget all about it, and then lecture the world about football being an honest game.
Oh and yes, I love Pique, just as much as I love Puyol, Messi, Xavi, Valdes, Alves, Iniesta, Sanchez, Busquets, Keita, Pedro, Gardiola, Abidal.
But that does not mean that I can not love Drogba, Cech, Essien, Cole, Ramires, Lampard, Terry, Torres, Malouda, Kalou.
I hope Chelsea wins the Champions League, for Cech and Drogba.
