Review: Kdrama My Name Is Kim Sam Soon

What should I say about this drama, My Name Is Kim Sam Soon. The drama is pretty simple, a boy meets girl and both are initially confused and then fall in love. The charm of this drama is the character of Kim Sam Soon, while most people would laugh at someone like that in real life, I would like to consider her a role model as she is who she is and does not pretend. And her character though hilarious on screen is amazing because it is so real.
  My Name Is Kim Sam Soon was released in 2005. It stars actors Hyun Bin (Secret Garden, Snow Queen) and actress Kim Sun-A (The City Hall, Golden Era) as the main leads, while the supporting cast includes Jung Ryeo-Won (Which Star Are You From?), Daniel Henney (Spring Waltz) and Lee A-Hyeon (Marry Me, Mary).
  My Name is Kim Sam Soon has many ardent followers, people love this drama and it is not hard to understand why. The drama has a very amazing character in the form of Kim Sam Soon, her character is real, in appearance and many times in her ways. Though sometimes she is a little exaggerated for the sake of comedy but never the less she comes across as a character one loves, a character who has faults. As for the character of the hero Hyun Jin-Hun, many reviews have described him as perfect but I disagree, the character does have flaws, and that is shown through his cold personality, his scarred personality and the fact that he is so confused about his feelings. A perfect character would not have so many fears and apprehensions, would be indeed always right, which is not the case. The second lead Yoo Hee-Jin is a nice girl and in fact the character one feels the most bad about, while the character of Henry is obviously made to make us feel better about Yoo Hee-Jin not getting the guy.

  Sadly Daniel Henney did not display the same charm as he did in Spring Waltz, and Hyun-Bin was not able to act as amazingly as he later on learned to do, but as it was his first main role one can overlook it, especially      since the drama is basically all about Kim Sam Soon and Kim Sun-A more then did justice to the character. The drama will give one a lot of laugh out loud moments and will make you understand and love the main character. Its a simple story and a simple drama which explores only one character and does so beautifully.
