NORMAL: DEFINITION= NONE

There is something really wrong with our society. See it is a fact that the society is judgemental, a fact I have known long enough. But only recently I realised how bad it is. It is actually suffocating and people don't even give any person a chance before judging them. Take an example of my recent experience where I realised that in our society if a girl smokes, and is seen doing it in public then people around her especially the men think that she will not have the same morals or boundaries. They become more frank with her, they start talking to her whereas they wouldn't dare talk to a random girl otherwise.
For them a girl who smokes is definitely someone who is "fast", is someone who is maybe not that respectable. Someone who can be approached for she will be easy going and will definitely be someone who won't mind flirting. The concept that a normal girl, who might perhaps be as conservative as the next girl will not smoke.
In other words a girl who smoke must be a slut according to this society, she must be a whore. I for one was taken as a prostitute just for smoking and I was wearing normal clothes, wasn't talking up random people and wasn't even eyeing anyone, but How can a girl who smokes be respectful?
Don't take me wrong, I am not putting every man of this society on that list, for I have many male friends who accept it. But there are many who just can't think a nice girl can smoke. And that is what bothers me to the extent of making me mad and making me want to beat these men. One tends to feel extremely angry when one is not allowed to be themselves for the society deems it inappropriate. This recent interaction left me wondering at the mindset of the people this society breeds. We tend to judge people without giving them a chance. We tend to forget that what our concept of normal is, may not be other people's concept of 'normal'.
